Development and impact of infrastructure investments and services supporting local roads, networks, health and athletics centres
In early 2022 the 5th Materiality Study was carried out (see Chap. Sustainable Development/ Material ESG Topics). This approach, as well as the two-way communication with local community, is used to identify investments in infrastructure and other actions for the benefit of neighboring municipalities of Thriasio, West. Thessaloniki and Kozani. All projects are undertaken in consultation with local communities.

Greece:
- Heating oil to the country’s largest public pediatric hospitals and units in Attica and Thessaloniki: “Aghia Sophia” Children’s Hospital, “Panagiotis & Aglaia Kyriakou” Athens Children’s General Hospital, Penteli Children’s General Hospital and the Pediatric in-patient care units of “IPPOKRATEIO” Thessaloniki General Hospital (budget forecast €3,132,000)
- Heating oil, up to 500 liters per family, to families with at least four children and low annual family income, aiming to provide a warm home to all for the Christmas period (€1,400,000)
- Heating oil to schools of the neighboring municipalities of Thriasio & West. Thessaloniki (€268,873)
- Heating and transport oil to institutions and organizations carrying out social work. (€46,291)
- Donation of a container for the administration of examinations at the General Hospital of Thriasio (€17,100)
- Transport fuel to the Municipality of Megara & Mandra (€13,000)
- Transport fuel to the volunteer organizations for fire protection needs (€3,200)
- Reinforcement of security forces: Maintenance of patrol boats of the Central Port Authority of Elefsina (€1,736)
- Studies and supervision for the reconstruction of the listed building Adam (€587,000)
- Renovation project of the “ELEUSIS” cinema in cooperation with the Municipality of Eleusis and the “2023 Eleusis European Capital of Culture” Municipal Company (€1,091,200)
Montenegro:
In cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, Jugopetrol AD, EKO petrol stations, as a socially responsible company, donated equipment to the most necessary primary schools throughout Montenegro. This donation will improve the quality of the implementation of the curriculum in IT subjects. The subject of the donation consists of 30 computers and monitors with the necessary accompanying equipment.
This donation will enable the improvement of the quality of teaching IT courses in rural schools, which need this type of assistance the most.
Improving the computer infrastructure in educational institutions is one of the priority goals of the “Strategy for Digitization of the Education System”, which was adopted by the Ministry of Education in December 2021.
Republic of North Macedonia:
- During 2022 the company has concluded all preparatory steps for running a tender in Q1 2023 relevant to an investment estimated to over €8m in building a 12MW PV plan in OKTAs own land. The outmost benefits deriving from this project will be to diversify the company’s operations by entering the electricity market and to help the country to achieve its energy transition targets.
- Investments of €320k on security, Safety and Fire Fighting modifications and upgrades concluded targeting the safety of the company’s operations, its employees, partners and the local society.
- Improvements in the tank farm of €420k targeting operational efficiencies and improvements.
OKTA is entering in investments in renewable energy by building a 12 MW PV park. Moreover, continuous to invest in upgrading the maintenance and upgrade of its tankage and safety infrastructure in the tank farm while also invest in system and operations automations all across the organizations in order to achieve operations efficiencies and to increase competitiveness.
OKTA through its investments attempts to support the local community through helping the state to achieve its energy transition targets that could lead to cleaner energy and presumably energy cost reduction while also engage local companies in all its development and maintenance projects. OKTA target is to help local business environment to develop as also promotes the continuous training of local workforce on new technologies and infrastructure developments.
