In 2013, for the first time, materiality assessment & stakeholder engagement surveys were conducted, through questionnaires, focus groups and interviews, with the participation of key representatives from all stakeholder groups. Moreover, periodically, Qualitative & Quantitative Surveys (Company Reputation Monitor), in local communities, take place. The materiality analysis & stakeholders engagement surveys were repeated in 2015, 2017, 2020 and 2022 (planned every two years) with the aim of better co-operation with local communities, impact assessment and the creation of programs to meet the needs and aspirations of stakeholders. Since 2013, the materiality assessment is conducted at the Group’s headquarters and takes into account the Group’s areas of activity in Greece. The Group’s activity abroad is not a substantial contribution and for this reason it is not included in the materiality assessment.
Surveys, regular communications and consultations, which are not limited to data collection for materiality assessment every 2 years, are also used to identify infrastructure investments and other actions for the benefit of local communities, and to understand the significant indirect impacts on local level.
The evaluation of the conclusions leads to the redesigning of actions. In 2022, it was recorded that local communities expect support to deal with the energy crisis, with an emphasis on supporting the unemployed, the public hospitals, the elderly and the large families.
Actions implemented after conducting surveys, consultations and communication with local communities are presented in detail and by country in 100% of the companies presented in this report.
Furthermore, during the design phase of a new investment, a provision is made for direct and indirect impacts.
